Patronising Friends / Supporting Their Businesses

Welcome to our first blog post of 2026! Today’s topic falls right into our Category of Love.

Before I go any further, let me explain what I mean by that. One of the core mission of the Ebunifemi brand is to write relatable articles that truly impact our audience. To do this, we anchor our content around four pillars: Love, Lifestyle, Learning, and Leisure. Over time, we will shed more light on these, but today, we are focusing on Love via connections.

Now, back to our post!

When it comes to commerce, do you actively patronise friends and people you know, or do you prefer to keep business and friendship strictly separate?

Personally, I love supporting businesses and services run by people in my network. Of course, there are pros and cons to this approach. I’ll admit I have been burnt in the past by doing business with people I know, but I still choose to support them—unless there are repeated errors and a refusal to learn and grow from those mistakes.

As an emerging business owner myself, I also know the other side of the coin. While we constantly strive for excellence, we aren't perfect. When customers haven't been satisfied, we have owned up to our mistakes and found ways to rectify them.

In our own small way, the Ebunifemi brand wants to act as a strategic connector. We want to shine a spotlight on businesses and services we know and trust. To be clear, this is about exposure and discovery, not legal partnerships!

This desire has led to the birth of The Brand Bridge where we hope to shine a light on a different brand...so look out for this via our various social media platforms or Be in the know before the rest of the world. Join our newsletter!
